Kurt Halsey fan tattoos

I think Kurt Halsey's drawings are unbearably twee and obnoxious, but I can see the appeal among the young and twee crowd. I knew there were people out there with tattoos based on his drawings but I had no idea there were so many! I figured most of them would be innocent little birds like the following (which is so cute it makes me want to puke, but I can understand it) :

But noooo. A ton of people went next level and got the little drawings with the little sayings about puppy love. How many of these people got matching tattoos at age 18 with their first boyfriend or girlfriend? A lot, I bet (I know for a fact a lot of the following are matching tattoos, but the first love thing is just conjecture). And that is kind of sad, because although I am by no means old or bitter, I am old enough and bitter enough to know that matching cutesy Kurt Halsey tattoos are a terrible, horrible, awful idea, and will almost surely be regretted a few years down the line.

The following are so gross and cutesy I can't even comment on them individually. The first one isn't even that well tattooed, but the rest are technically fine. It's just th idea that is so bad. Keep in mind that this is a small sampling of the inordinate amount of Kurt Halsey tattoos that are out there.

have you guys ever thought that MAYBE.. just MAYBE these kids got these tattoos because they liked his art? i mean, i don't know it for sure, but if i ever got a kurt halsey tattoo, it would be because i thought it was cute or something. not because of a boy. i don't think i'd ever castrate-via-blog comment someone because they got a tattoo that i thought was stupid. sheesh.

I agree with 'carrie sunkist<3' over here. I think criticism is fine, but really, to go on and on bitching and moaning about others' expression, that's just ridiculous.

There's a porno chick that has these figures tattooed on her arm. I always figured it was something she or a friend came up with themselves, since I had never seen this artwork anywhere else. Guess at 32 I'm finally getting old and out of touch. These damn kids today with their crazy tattoos and robot servants!!! Stay off my lawn!

PS I'm not dissing the cartoon character tattoo concept, I have a Dr Seuss one on my leg

as far as the concept of getting his art, i think it's as "done" as tribal bands, playboy logos, or some sailor jerry stuff. originality is few and far between when it comes to ink these days.

but as far as the ink featured in those pics themselves? AWFUL. look at the boy's head in the car. and that 1st set of fireflies? was that done during an earthquake?

i happen to have a kurt halsey tattoo. people get tattoos for dumb reasons or just to be fucking cool. but i happen to love his drawings and it means something to me. it would be like the kid down the street getting a Halo tattoo cos that's his fav. game. do half the tattoos you have, have mean? i think not. you don't know why those other people have those tattoos. just because yours are probably fucked up don't talk shit about others.

I have to agree with what the previous comment said. You know nothing about these individuals and their stories. I believe tattoos should mean something and should tell a story otherwise, what's the point?

I personally have 2 Kurt Halsey angels tattooed on my back and I did it because I wanted to get something in memory of 2 very special people I lost to cancer. I've always been a HUGE fan of his art and it took me 5 years to decide on a design. It was not something I took lightly or something I did because it was "cute" or "tween". That's my story...who knows how many countless stories are out there that echo the same sentiment?

You can continue to sit on your pulpit and pass judgment which, you seem to do quite well but I would highly suggest you show others some kindness because what goes around comes around.

Maybe I am just totally lame but I happen to love Kurt Halsey. I have 15 tattoos to date and five of them are Kurt drawings. His art covers my house so why shouldnt it cover my body?
Im not really sure why anyone cares what someone else puts on their body... I dont see how it affects you enough to create blog about it.

I really dont think that these people got these tattoos for any other reason than the fact they love Kurt Halsey artwork. My boyfriend has two Halsey angels on his chest and I (amongst most other people who have seen them) think they're amazing. When it come's to tattoo's it's all about personal preference and individuality. If people like these designs as a tattoo why critise there own personal choice??

For the most part, I like Kurt Halsey's composition, and I can even deal with his style, but his actual subject matter makes me want to puke. I don't understand why you'd purchase a print of something with such a cheesy-as-fuck, juvenile message, let alone get it tattooed on yourself permanently. Although I guess that's the kind of message his super-sophisticated body of work sends: always and forever, tee-hee! :DDDD

I personalty have a tattoo by a drawing of Kurt Halsey. They are two flying pigs. Got for my mom (who LOVES PIGS even has a pet pig) after she survived breast cancer.

i have three kurt halsey tattoos and i am 23. honestly i believe you ranting about your hatred for them is more "twee" and pathetic then anyone who feels the need to express themselves with tattoo art. i love his work. his sayings mean more to people then just a boyfriend or girlfriend. i got my first tattoo for my friend who committed suicide. you are entitled to your opinion, but judging an entire group of people for the actions of a few is just inappropriate. grow up.

hahaha
a. twee means adorable and tiny - how is complaining twee? tween is an age group

Oh god Kurt Halsey. You gotta wonder what's wrong with the world if this is the art that people enjoy. It's fucking shocking!
I'm relieved to find someone agrees with me.
Now pass the bucket before I vomit

Ha damn nigga you just bitching about what people are putting on there own bodies. So you are complaning about something that you can't really change. But damn go ahead if bitching makes you feel better.

i love kurt halsey. i love his artwork. i don't know what "twee" means or whatever but i know that kurt halsey isn't popular where i'm from and i found out about him because i stumbled on his artwork one day. i planned on getting a tat of his work but i didn't know they were so popular. i probably still will just because i like it but it's sad you don't like him so much. i feel like he captures the awkwardness of certain moments in a relationship quite well and a lot of the sweet romantic parts. idk... you're intitled to your opinion :)

i think this falls into the catergory of something that doesn't affect you, so why do you care? does it really matter what other people get tattoos of?? i mean seriously. it does nothing to hurt you, other than the fact that you find his artwork annoying, and now you see it on people's bodies. You really have no right to judge anyone for what they like, or have tattoed on them. but hey, if it makes you happy or feel better, than by all means continue... but i just wonder if you would enjoy people ragging on your choices, and the things you enjoyed. because i am pretty sure no one likes that.

Im a big fan of Kurt's art. Im am not a "tween" as the expression was used. I am a 25 year old straight male, and I work in the tattoo/piercing industry. I like the work of Halsey because it is simple, yet often conveys a vivid memory of a moment in time. As far as tattoos go, what makes one superior to another is not what the tattoo is of, but the art itself. It is not for us to decide what beauty is for others. I am not a fan of tribla tattoos myself (on non-natives) but I feel that everyone should be goven the opportunity to adorn his/her body with what they choose. Thank you.

the wonderful thing about art is it is subjective and and no one can tell you how to feel about it. but from an artists perspective on the matter, his work isn't bad, it has a simple graphic quality that is really great. If you feel the need to talk about horrible artwork, i suggest that you pick on something that really is bad work. and really, why do you care what people get tattooed on themselves, it's just really immature that you feel the need to post this.

I have 9 kurt halsey tattoos. No words or anything, but some images that help remind me of a milestone I went through at some point in my life. Why does anyone get a tattoo of any kind of art? Complaining about one particular artist is silly, when the whole circle of reused and repeated art happens with so many things constantly. I just think his work says what I need it to say for my tattoos.

wow, you must have a lot of time on your hands if you can devote this much time to putting down things that mean so much to another person. if you don't like it than don't look. it's as simple as that. didn't your mother ever teach you-treat others as you would like to be treated. stop complaining about other people and GET A LIFE!

Kurt Halsey is amazing.
if i ever get a tattoo, it will most likely be something of his. I adore him. And i don't give a shit what you or anyone else on the internet says.

I work for a "twee" company and I haven't seen any hasley tattoos on them! Oh I forgot you can't get tatted when you're fucking TWEEN! idiot. also before you blog a critique please learn the difference between there, their, they're, were and where. once again, IDIOT.

Never heard of this dude, so I had to look further, sweet jesus crap.....

The kiddies think this dude is an artist. Oh well, our culture is at it's end anyway.

I'm 32. Three of my 11 tattoos are Kurt Halsey pieces. I plan on getting more of his work in the near future. Halsey's art is simple and meaningful. The pieces I have represent points in my life that are unforgettable. Frankly, I'm not really sure why you care what we are putting on our bodies as expression. Nobody is forcing you look at us or to tattoo yourself with his artwork. You worry about yourself and the rest of us will worry about ourselves. The world will be a much happier place then.

I was going to mention the hardcore porn girl with these tats, but someone beat me to it! Un/fortunately 'twee' is not the first thing I think when I see Halsey tats now. = /
